Do we even need to make our kids read the news? All the parents ask themselves this question sooner or later. But after taking one look at the newspaper we realize that it is probably not a very good idea to disturb them as the newspapers these days are full of either failure stories or violent ones.
Every parent wants to bubble wrap their kids so that they are not disturbed by the fact that there are a lot of bad things happening in the world. At the same time, we have to inculcate this awareness in them that they have to read the news everyday. The news, of course should be age appropriate and from a trusted source.
For kids reading news is essential part of their growth and development. It forces young minds into thinking on their own, into learning to connect the dots as they see.
