Flutes made from bird bone and mammoth ivory were found in a cave in South Germany. Scientists have been able to prove that the flutes are almost 43,000 years old.
This proves that humans lived in Europe around that time as the scientists were assuming earlier. Musical instruments may have been used for religious activities or just for fun, experts say.
A team led by Prof Tom Higham at Oxford University dated animal bones in the same ground layers as the flutes at Geissenkloesterle Cave in Germany’s Swabian Jura. BBC reported.
