Olympic Sport: Beach Volleyball

Olympic Sport Beach Volleyball

Imagine playing a sport on the sandy beach, with fresh cold air coming from the ocean to refresh you. This sport is Beach Volleyball also known as Sand Volleyball. Beach Volleyball is very similar to Indoor Volleyball where the object of the game is to send the ball over the net on the opponent’s court so that it touches the ground.

What you will find hard to believe is that Beach volleyball – a fun sport, is an Olympic team event !! Beach Volleyball made its Olympic debut at Atlanta 1996. Ever since then it has become one of the most popular spectator sports at the Olympic games.

It is played between two teams of two players each on a sand court divided by a net. A total of 24 teams participate in each beach volleyball Olympic tournament. Each country is allowed only one men’s and one women’s team.

As much fun as it sounds, Beach Volleyball is a physically demanding game and players need to have speed, strength and stamina.

I am looking forward to watch this Olympic sport… are you??
