A road construction company  has destroyed one of the country’s largest Mayan pyramids in Belize. 2,300 years old Noh Mul temple was completely destroyed. They were using the gravel and limestone content to fill roads in nearby Douglas Village.

The Archaeologists of the Belizean Institute of Archaeology  said that sadly this is not the first time such an incident has happened. There have been other incidents of the kind.

Police are looking into the matter.

Although the temple was on a private land, because of its historical importance it was under government protection.

It is so sad that some people just wipe out the history so easily. Do you think it should be allowed?
