Earthquake shakes El Salvador

Earthquake shakes El Salvador

A strong earthquake of magnitude 7.3 hit El Salvador coast on Sunday. El Salvador is the smallest and the most densely populated country in Central America. It borders pacific ocean from one side. There was a Tsunami warning issued for the neighbouring countries such as Costa Rica, Honduras, Guatemala, Panama and Mexico which was later cancelled.

The earthquake was followed an hour later by another earthquake of magnitude 5.4. Such smaller intensity earthquakes after a big one are called ‘Aftershocks.’
