Federer Crashes Out of Wimbledon

Roger Federer, the defending champion and the world no. 3 player suffered a shocking defeat in the second round at the hands of the world no. 116 Sergie Stakhovsky, a Ukranian player who does not even have a coach. He was defeated 6-7 (5-7) 7-6 (7-5) 7-5 7-6 (8-6).

It has been the earliest exit for Federer in 11 years since his defeat to Mario Ancic in first round in 2002. Seven time winner at Wimbledon, Roger said that he did not expect to lose and that the loss at Wimbledon is particularly disappointing.

Wimbledon 2013 has seen many big upsets till now. Earlier Rafael Nadal and Jo Wilfried Tsonga had crashed out of the tournament. In women’s singles event, world no. 2 and 3, Victoria Azarenka and Maria Sharapova have exited the tournament.
