A devastating tornado has hit Emilio-Romagna, a region in northern Italy. So far twelve people have been injured but the damage done is  that of millions of dollars.

Emilia-Romagna is one of the richest, most developed regions in Europe. The region is also a cultural and tourist centre, being the home of the University of Bologna, one of the first universities in the world.

The scary twister twisted and turned destroying the villages that lay in its path.

The regional authorities have asked the Italian government to declare a state of emergency.
