Heart breaking for Roger fans all around the world. The champion player faced a crushing defeat from Frenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga with the scoreboard reading 7-5, 6-3,6-3. The match lasted 1 hour and 51 minutes. Though clay has never been Roger’s favourited surface – he has won the French Open title only once in 2009 in his starry career, he seemed to be struggling exceptionally hard in the match against Tsonga.

On the other hand, Tsonga, played almost flawlessly. He played powerful serves and a good forehand. If Jo-Wilfried Tsonga wins the French Open title this year, he will become the first Frenchman since Yannick Noah won the title 30 years back in 1983.

In the other Men’s singles quarterfinals, Novak Djokovich, Rafael Nadal and David Ferrer defeated their opponents to proceed to semifinals. In semi final matches, Djokovich is pitted against Nadal and Tsonga will play against David Ferrer.
