Sunita William’s Fifth Spacewalk

Indian-American astronaut Sunita Williams and Japanese astronaut Akihiko Hoshide, stepped outside the International Space Station to attend some maintenance issues in ISS. However, they had difficulties driving the bolts to secure the replacement switching unit and therefore were unable to fix it.

The outing was fifth spacewalk for Sunita and it lasted 8 hours and 17 minutes.

The longest spacewalk that lasted for 8 hours and 56 minutes was completed by US astronaut Susan Helms and James Voss in 2001.
