A powerful tornado struck Mississipi, a U.S. state located in the Southern United States. It destroyed many homes and snapped power lines causing power cuts.

A tornado is a violent rotating column of air that forms between a thunderstorm and the ground. The most violent tornadoes are capable of huge destruction with wind speeds of up to 300 mph. This speed gives them enough power to feed on large buildings, uproot trees and hurl vehicles hundreds of yards, whatever comes in their way.

The storm is now said to be heading eastwards towards Georgia, another state located in southeastern United States.
