A tornado is a violent rotating column of air that forms between a thunderstorm and the ground. The most violent tornadoes are capable of huge destruction with wind speeds of up to 300 mph. This speed gives them enough power to feed on large buildings, uproot trees and hurl vehicles hundreds of yards, whatever comes in their way. That’s mean !

The extreme winds hit  northern and western parts of Poland, destroying 100 homes.

Electricity power-lines have also been damaged.

Although the tornadoes are not unknown in Poland, this summer’s series of events has been particularly dramatic and weather forecasters have predicted stormy conditions will continue.
