Witty, Humorous, or Nonsense poem

A limerick is a poem that will make you giggle non stop,
You will laugh and laugh till you drop.
As if you saw pigs that could fly,
Or a fly eating fish fry.
You will drop, wouldn’t you, you slop!

Ha! The above poem might not make any sense, but it is definitely funny, rhymes and is five lines long. So that is the only rule for making limericks. The standard form of a limerick is a stanza of five lines, with the first, second and fifth usually rhyming with one another; and the shorter third and fourth lines also rhyming with each other.

Hey what are you thinking, it would be fun to write limericks about your friends or family. Let us try writing about aunt Jane.

Christmas is here and so is time to have fun
Oh there is so much that we could have done
But my Aunt Jane is here with her son Billy
And her stories are so long and silly
I suggest we all run run run.

Now go ahead and make up lots of  limericks, you can be as silly as you want. In fact, the sillier the better. Ha!
