Every day we are exposed to a lot of germs but its not everyday we fall sick.
Why?
Our body has a smart way of fighting these germs with something very special called an Immune System.
Our immune system can detect a difference between the body’s own ‘healthy‘ cells and ‘foreign‘ cells. When one of these germs(virus or bacteria) gets into our body, our immune system attacks these foreign bodies. That is when our body responds differently to show that our immune system is hard at work. Some of these responses are runny nose, coughing, fever etc. After sometime, when our immune system fights off the virus, we stop having symptoms. It also means that when our body wins over the germs we don’t fall sick.
But when stronger germs win over our immune system, these symptoms dont go away and we fall sick. That is when we need to take appropriate medicine.
Things to remember:
- Most of the germs like cold virus are contagious. They spread from touching or close contact.
- The three major antioxidant vitamins – Beta-carotene, vitamin C, and vitamin E tremendously improve your immune system. You’ll find them in colorful fruits and vegetables – especially those with purple, blue, red, orange, and yellow hues.
