French Open 2013 round 1 matches have been proceeding pretty much as expected. Top three women players, Serena Williams, Maria Sharapova and Victoria Azarenka have made it to round 2. Venus Williams shockingly was ousted by unseeded Urszula Radwanska of Poland.

In Men’s singles, Novak Djokovich, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal, seeded 1,2 and 3 respectively have easily proceeded to round 2. However, in a huge upset, Tomas Berdych, seeded 5 in the tournament was defeated by unseeded Gael Monfils of France.
