If I ask you why it is important to drink water, you might pause and say it quenches your thirst. That’s right!! Thirst is your body’s way of telling you it needs water. But why do we even feel thirsty? All living things need water and air to survive. Even Wasps need to drink water.
Your body is made up of two thirds of water. Everything that your body does, it needs the
help of water. All of your organs are made up of water and they need a constant supply of water to work properly. For instance, your blood, which contains a lot of water, carries oxygen to all the cells of our body. These tiny cells would die without oxygen and your body would stop working.
Water is very important to keep your immune system ( the system that fights germs and diseases) healthy and kicking and that in turn keeps you healthy and kicking. Everyday we lose a lot of water by sweating, breathing, excreting. So we need to keep drinking more to get back the lost water.
Milk and Water are two very good sources of water. But fresh fruits and vegetables also contain a lot of water. So eat them up :)
Carbonated drinks like Coke and Pepsi seem to quench your thirst when you drink them. But they are actually stealing more water from your body so say a big NO to those drinks okay. Now you know why Mom says no for those soft drinks.
Drink at least 8 glasses of water everyday okay!
