To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the English Premier League, the organisation had asked fans of English football’s top players to nominate the best goal amongst the players most memorable goals.

Wayne Rooney’s amazing overhead goal against Manchester City in the 2011 season of English Premier League has been voted the greatest goal in the history of 20 years of the English Premier League.

In competition with Wayne Rooney were football stars like David Beckham and Thierry Henry. Thousands of football fans across the world voted for their favourite stars.

“I grew up watching the Premier League so to be voted the best goal in the history of the Premier League is a great feeling … something I’m very proud of,” Rooney said on winning the title.
