Yes, six states of India have been put on a drought alert. What is a drought? It is a complete opposite of floods. It is a condition where the affected areas receive less or no rain at all.

This condition is bad for us because the crops that need rain die, there is shortage of water for people to drink and it is too hot.

The six states that do not have enough water are Karnataka, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana and Gujarat.
