The French Open is one of the major tennis tournaments that takes place every year between late May and early June in Paris, France, at the Stadium Roland Garros (named after a famous French aviator Roland Garros).
French Open is the second of the four annual Grand Slam tournaments (Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon, US Open). It is the only Grand Slam held on a clay surface.
All men’s singles matches have five sets without a tiebreak in the final set. Matches sometimes go on for 5 hours or more, thus it is a very physically challenging tennis tournament in the world.
Max Decugis holds the record of winning maximum number of French open titles (8 titles) followed by Bjorn Borg & Rafael Nadal ( each has won the title 6 times).
The tournament started yesterday and will end with men’s singles final on June 10.
