Iceberg twice the size of manhattan broke off glacier in Greenland

Huge Iceberg formed in Greenland

Iceberg breaks off from Greenland’s Petermann Glacier. The new iceberg is nearly twice the size of Manhattan.

In 2010 an ice island measuring 250 square km (100 square miles) broke off the same glacier.

The calving of Glaciers – which means breaking of big chunk of ice from parent glacier, is a natural process, but this Glacier’s activity has taken the scientists by surprise.
