Mary Kom had to settle for the bronze as she lost the game to Britain’s Nicola Adams in her 51 kg semifinal bout at the Olympics in London on Wednesday.
Speed was the need of the hour. The second-seed Nicola made it very difficult for Mary Kom to cope up with her powerful fast punches. The Indian was under pressure in the first round, having to fend off Nicola’s powerful punches.
Mary Kom, who had to switch two weight categories to get to 51kg, tried to stand up to the challenge but Nicola showed some clever boxing and used her height as an advantage.
Well played Mary, You will play better next time!
