Or should we say the mystery has been solved? Well, the Stonehenge, a world renowned stone monument in Salisbury, United Kingdom, was all along thought to be an astronomical calendar built by ancient people.
But now, new study overturns that belief. Scientists and historians have come up with a new theory that suggests that Stonehenge was built by thousands of ancient people that got together from across Britain to celebrate the winter solstice. These people gathered at the site each year to build the monument and celebrate with massive communal feasts.
So, people didn’t just construct a site that was of religious or s astronomical significance but they got together to celebrate and at the same time built Stonehenge as a part of their celebrations. Stonehenge took around ten years to get completed.
