Wildfires raged across Southeast Australia due to strong winds and temperature rising up to more than 45 degress celsius. Thousand of people have been left homeless.
Wildfires started in Tasmania since Friday, the island state of Australia, damaging large areas of land and property in towns and villages. Australian Prime Minister, Julia Gillard, visited wildfire-hit regions in Tasmania and asked the people to stay alert.
A wildfire is an uncontrolled fire in vast area with lots of vegetation that can easily catch fire. Dry weather and strong winds help the wildfire spread speedily. Wildfires usually occur in Australia during the hotter months of the year due to Australia’s mostly hot, dry climate.
The fires might continue for some more days till the temperatures drops down a little.
