Sri Lanka and West Indies had played a game each in the Super Eights stage and both had won it so it was match between the equals.

West Indies won the toss and elected to bat first. Unfortunately, they got off to a very slow start and could score only score 130 at the end of their game.

In reply Srilankan captain Mahela Jayawardene guided his team to an easy nine-wicket win against the West Indies.
