The US Open Championship is a hard court tennis tournament, the fourth and final one in the Grand Slam each year. The other three tournaments in Grand Slam are the Australian Open, French Open and Wimbledon. It is held every year in late August and early September. The main tournament hosts five different events- men’s and women’s singles, men’s and women’s doubles, and mixed doubles.
Roger Federer is the number one seed in the tournament. On day one, Roger beat American Donald Young while Andy Murray, fresh out of his Olympic victory, beat Russian Alex Bogomolov to proceed to the next round.
Did you know that US Open Championship is also known as Flushing Meadows.
