As the Volcan del Fuego, or Volcano of Fire, spewed rivers of bright orange lava down, authorities ordered more than 30,000 people in 17 nearby communities to be evacuated.

Women and children and older people were evacuated in old school buses and ambulances.

A lot of people refused to leave their homes.
