Nasa’s Curiosity rover has completed its first up close examination of rocks on the planet.

The robot pushed its high-tech arms against a rock to find out which elements it was made from.

The rover has used the special technology – a “hand lens” and X-ray spectrometer.

The mission of Curiosity is to find out if life exists on Mars.
