Typhoon Bolaven hits Japan

A powerful typhoon has crashed into the Japanese island of Okinawa, forcing thousands of residents move to safer public buildings on the island.

All domestic and international flights out of the island’s Naha Airport have been cancelled.

A lot of areas have no electricity. The latest typhoon is the 15th storm that can do a lot of damage of the season in East Asia.

A ‘typhoon’ is a name used for cyclone in east of Asia. The word typhoon has originated from chinese word ‘tai-fung’ meaning ‘great wind’.
