Will the World End in 2012?

Is it true that the world is ending in 2012?

This is how it all started. Sumerians who lived in ancient Mesopotamia (modern Iraq)  believed that a planet named  Nibiru existed. They predicted that Nibiru would hit Earth, and that will be the doomsday. The initial prediction was for May 2003. Well 2003 came and went, but no such collision happened. Later the date was moved  to December 2012 as an ancient Mayan calendar was ending its cycle in the winter solstice of 2012 — hence the predicted doomsday date of December 21, 2012.

This does not mean anything. Doesn’t our calendar ends on December 31st every year and starts again in January? The same way the Mayan calendar probably finishes one cycle and restarts again after December 21st.

Our take on the question whether the world is going to end is “No, it will not”. We think after December 21st when nothing actually happens someone will come up with a new doomsday date much further into the future. Haven’t we done fine for the past 4 million years?  We have and we think we will continue to do so for many more years.
