The Cook Islands announced the creation of the world’s largest marine park Tuesday. It is an enormous marine park almost twice the size of France at 1.065 million square Kilometer.

It is amazing that tiny island nations have created such a huge marine park.

The Cook Islands, nation of 20,000 people on 15 islands.

Previously the world’s largest marine reserve was the 545,000 sq km area established by the UK around the Chagos Islands in the Indian Ocean.
