Kudankulam Nuclear Power Project (KNPP) is a nuclear power station in Kudankulam in the Tirunelveli district of Tamil Nadu. A nuclear power station is a major source of power- both heat and electricity.

For a long time there have been protests by the locals against the functioning of the plant as they have concerns about the plant’s safety.

But now finally Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant is expected to begin generating power in a month’s time.
