Scientists believe that they have enough proof to believe that all mammals including humans evolved from a rat-sized animal. This animal weighing not more than few hundred grams was probably an insect eater.

After six years of research which includes studying fossil records and living mammals, scientists have come to the conclusion that this rat-sized creature sits on the top of the mammal family tree. All 5,400 living species of mammals, including popular ones like elephants, bats, whales, cats, dogs and humans have evolved from it.

And you thought you were related only to monkeys? ;)
