The Kaveri or Cauvery river, originates from Western Ghats in Karnataka and flows through the states of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. There has always been a conflict about sharing the water of river Cauvery between  Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. 

The dissatisfied state of Karnataka claims that it does not receive its fair share of water from the river. Many rounds of talk have proved futile.

There are series of protests taking place in Karnataka since last few days over the release of Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu. 

But why are we even fighting over a natural resource. It belongs to everyone.
