German player Sabine Lisicki who had defeated world no. 1 player Serena Williams in her round four matches to proceed in the game has yet again pulled off another wonder. Yesterday, the 23 year old defeated Agnieszka Radwanska, ranked no. 4 to book a place for herself in the finals. The match, however, was not an easy one. Lisicki had to fight very hard to win it 6-4,2-6,9-7.

In another semi final match, Marion Bartoli had an easy victory 6-1, 6-2 over Kirsten Flipkens. Lisicki will now play Bartoli in the finals on Saturday. While Lisicki has never been in Wimbledon finals, this is Bartoli’s second Wimbledon final. She had reached the Wimbledon finals in 2007 where she lost to Venus Williams.

The stage is all set. May the best player win!

Did you know that Sabine Lisicki is the first German player since Steffi Graf in 1999 to reach Wimbledon finals? Steffi Graf has won the championship seven times.
