US is facing the worst influenza epidemic in a decade according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
The CDC flu advisory report released Friday finds widespread outbreaks in 47 states, up from 41 last week.
The flu vaccine is being rationed as the authorities are saving the flu shots for the elderly. The pharmacies are trying to restock as much as they can. But, again, they are waiting for those shipments to reach the pharmacies.
There is something that all of us can do to stop the flu. Adults and children can be contagious a day prior to beginning of symptoms. An infected person is still contagious after recovering, so they should stay home until they are absolutely fine.
