John Gurdon from the UK and Shinya Yamanaka from Japan of stem cell research have shared the Nobel prize this year for medicine or physiology.
This year’s Nobel prize in physics has been awarded to Serge Haroche of France and David Wineland of the US for their work with light and matter at the most fundamental level.
The Nobel Prize is a prestigious award that is given out to people who have an outstanding performance in their area of work. Some of the main categories are Physics, Chemistry, Physiology or Medicine, Literature, and Peace.
