The surface-to-surface Prithvi II ballistic missile was successfully launched at 11.03 a.m.on Saturday from Chandipur off Odisha coast.
A “Ballistic Missile“is guided in the first part of its flight but falls freely as it approaches target. With this missile launch, India has emerged as a major missile power.
A part of army, entrusted with the nuclear weapons delivery systems, launched the missile.
The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) officials said the test flight as fully successful.
It was a perfect launch and can go as far as 350km.
