Kudankulam Nuclear Power Project(KNPP) is a nuclear power station in Kudankulam in the Tirunelveli district of Tamil Nadu. A nuclear power station is a major source of power- both heat and electricity.

There were a lot of protests coming from the people that live in the nearby vilages. But now the Supreme Court on Tuesday made it clear to the government that all safety measures for handling disaster must be put in place at the Kudankulam power plant before it starts working.

SC further directed the state that if the state of TN does not submit the safety plans for surrounding 40 villages, an order will be passed to stop any operations at the plant.
