Rhino poaching is banned as per international laws. Still, 618 rhinos were poached in South Africa in 2012, most of them in the world famous Kruger National Park. Shockingly, it is double than the number of rhinos Poached in 2010.
South Africa is home to 25,000 rhinos. This makes 85 percent of the total rhino population in Africa.
Rhino horn is hugely popular in many Asian countries where they use rhino horns to make traditional medicines.
South Africa and Vietnam have signed an official agreement, under which they will work together to stop poaching and illegal trading of rhino horns. Strict punishments will be delivered to those involved.
