Hugo Chavez, the President of Venezuela, who was admitted in hospital since February due to a prolonged illness passed away on March 5. He held the office of President from 1999 until his death in 2013.

Hugo Chavez was a great leader who fought to provide education and healthcare to all his citizens especially the poor. Those people who support his reforms say that he has he stimulated economic growth of Venezuela and worked very hard towards welfare and education of the poor. However, there are some people who said he did not manage country’s economy well.

Thousands of people across Venezuela are mourning his death. The entire country has come to a stand still. All schools and universities have been shut for the week.
