World Environment Day is celebrated on June 5 every year to create worldwide awareness for the environment.
World Environment Day was celebrated for the first time in 1972 by United Nations(UN). UN is an international organisation that works towards building cooperation and understanding amongst all the nations of the world so that the whole world can live peacefully.
Through World Environment Day, the UN Environment Programme highlights environmental issues and enables every nation to realize that mother earth is everyone’s responsibility. We can all contribute to a healthy environment in our own ways.
But what can we do?
Each one of us can do our bit like organize a neighborhood clean-up, stop using plastic bags and get people around us to do the same, plant a tree or better yet organize a collective tree planting effort with our friends, walk to nearby places instead of using cars, start a recycling drive . . . their are quite a lot of actions that we can take to make Earth a cleaner place.
So what are you going to do for World Environment Day?
