The Space shuttle carries astronauts to the space and back.
Created by NASA, Space Shuttle Enterprise never went into space, but rather performed tests that were very important to the shuttle’s development and operation. Enterprise particularly helped to understand the glide tests (tests related to the landing of the aircraft) and showed that the spacecraft would be able to land safely after returning from space. Since Enterprise is no longer used in any way, it will be displayed at the Intrepid Air, Sea and Space Museum later this year.
Yesterday, New York city, saw Enterprise zoom around in skies for the last time, mounted atop NASA’s Shuttle Carrier Aircraft. Its flew over the Statue of Liberty and the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum before landing at its temporary home, Kennedy Airport. Thousands of onlookers, including kids gathered to cheer Space Shuttle Enterprise.
