One rocket. Seven satellites and a big feat achieved by India at Sriharikota.
On Monday evening, Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle-C20 (PSLV-C20) carried seven satellites into space including the Indo-French satellite Saral, the world’s first smart phone-operated nano satellite, a space telescope satellite and four other foreign satellites.
President Pranab Mukherjee witnessed the event and was full of praise for ISRO ( Indian Space Research Organisation) on the successful launch.
Why do we need to have satellites in the first place? The word “satellite” refers to a machine that is launched into space and goes around Earth or any another body in space. Earth is a natural satellite of Sun. Moon is a natural satellite of Earth.
SARAL’s primary objective is to study the seas and oceans.
SAPPHIRE, a Canadian space telescope satellite will track man-made space objects about 800 kilometres above Earth.
The BRITE nano-satellites (miniature satellites), are designed to measure the brightness of stars and learn more about how stars work.
The truth is out there !
