Sometimes accidents can be pleasant too. You bumping into a friend by accident! Finding a penny in the sand by accident! Curiosity rover Mars recently walked over a piece of rock by accident. But to everybody’s pleasant surprise, the rock named Tintina, broke open to reveal its white colour from inside.
So what does this mean?
This means that the rock on inside has some hydrated minerals. These minerals containing water must have formed when there was water on the surface of Mars millions of years ago. This further supports earlier evidences that have pointed towards presence of water on Mars.
Last week, NASA said that there was some evidence that supports the fact that ancient Mars could have had life.
