Kaziranga National Park in Assam is a UNESCO world heritage site. A world heritage site is considered very important in the world that has natural beauty and uniqueness to be conserved for all and future generations to enjoy.
It is located on the southern banks of river Brahmaputra. The rains usually bring water to the area. This helps in the survival of all animals at the park.
But whenever there is excess rainfall, there are floods. Floods submerge most of the land in water thus making it difficult for the trapped and helpless animals to escape.
Kaziranga on world map is a very important area for conservation of the endangered species like one-horned rhinos. It is home to two-thirds of the world’s remaining one-horned rhinos population. And this is why it is on world heritage list.
Though we don’t have any control over such natural disasters, we can surely take some preventive measures to minimise the loss of life.
