Aren’t all of us fond of Fairy Tale Theatre? Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Hansel and Gretel, Sleeping Beauty, Rumpelstiltskin, Rapunzel are just to name a few. We are able to enjoy these stories because almost 200 years ago, two brothers Wilhelm and Jakob Grimm travelled all around in Germany and collected these stories before people forgot them. Today is the 200th anniversary of Grimm’s Fairy Tales.
They travelled from one village to another and heard stories from the people who had remembered them and wrote the stories just the way they were told. In those days, there were no children storybook. Instead, parents and grandparents told children stories as they had remembered hearing when they were little.
The Grimm brothers worried that these stories might be lost someday, and that is why they went around collecting them and have them printed in a book called the “Grimm’s Fairy Tales”.
