A black hole is a place in space where gravity pulls so much that even light cannot get out. The gravity is so strong because the matter has been squeezed into a tiny space. It just swallows any light that is around it and thus it cannot be seen.
Now Astronomers have spotted a massive black hole – the second-biggest ever discovered – that’s 17 billion times the size of our Sun.
So if, we cannot see them then how did we find one? Actually the stars around such black holes behave very differently. Space telescopes with unique tools are used to observe them. The unique tools can see how stars that are remarkably close to black holes act differently than other stars.
Black holes are big mysteries of the science.
