Around 30 pilot whales found themselves on the beach of Fife coast in Scotland. Each of the whales was almost 20 Ft long. That’s huge!

Sadly around 20 of them died. Nine whales have been saved by the vets from British Divers and Marine Life Rescue, with help from the emergency services. A vet is acronym for ‘veterinarian’  meaning an animal doctor.

This phenomenon is called beaching of whales.  The beached whales die due to dehydration (lack of water in their bodies).
