Japanese man Jiroemon Kimura, who is known as the world’s oldest living person celebrated his 116th birthday today.
Mr Kimura was born on 19 April 1897. He worked as a postman until he was 65 years old. After that he took up farming and did so until he was 90.
He is in Guinness World Records as the world’s oldest living person. He currently lives in his grandson’s home.
He has seen the 19th century, the 20th century and is now living in the 21st century. How many people do you suppose get to live through three centuries? Very few! It is estimated that there are only 12 people still alive who have witnessed the three centuries.
Guess where the world’s oldest living woman lives? Misao Okawa, who is 115 years old also lives in Japan.
